ORCHESTRAS  

All students who receive School of Music, Theatre & Dance merit-based scholarships are required to participate each semester in one of the ensembles marked with an asterisk (*) or for some jazz degrees (**); doctoral students are exempt.

* University Symphony Orchestra 2 credits.
  • Open to all, but not recommended for non-music majors because of the extensive rehearsals and performances.
  • Placement by audition - most selective orchestra. Single screened audition for both this and Philharmonia Orchestra will take place Aug. 30 through Sept. 3. Audition sign-up sheets will be posted by Tuesday, August 28th on the band and orchestra bulletin boards outside the Rehearsal Hall.

  • Single audition for this and Campus Symphony Orchestra arranged during first class meeting, which is Wednesday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m. in 1320 Moore Building
  • Audition requirements: 2 excerpts (fast and slow) from any piece of music.
  • Rehearses W 7:00 - 9:30 p.m., McIntosh Theatre / Recital Hall
